On your device. An open Whisper speech model runs inside the browser tab. The audio is not uploaded to SaidClear or anyone else, and it is not kept once the text is written.

Which languages can I dictate in?

Ten: English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian and Arabic. Pick one, or let the model detect the language of each dictation. No accuracy figure has been measured or published for any of them.

How is the text cleaned up?

Choose verbatim, light (spacing, capitals and closing punctuation) or standard, which also removes pure filler sounds and stuttered words. Standard understands spoken commands such as “new line” and “scratch that” in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.

Can it write my words in another language?

Yes, in any of the other nine. In Chrome and Edge on a computer this runs on your device for free; elsewhere it uses a hosted model on Pro, after you agree. If neither is available, your text stays in the language you spoke and is never passed off as a translation.

Does it type directly into other apps?

Not on the web. You copy or share the result into the app you are using. A desktop client that types at the cursor exists in source but is not distributed.

What happens to my dictation history?

It stays in this browser only. Keep it until you delete it, keep it for 24 hours, or keep nothing. You can search it and export it as Markdown.

How long can one dictation be?

Up to 10 minutes per dictation.
